Málaga is a port city in Andalusia (southern Spain), located on the Costa
del Sol of the Mediterranean Sea. With 560,000 inhabitants in 2007, Málaga is the sixth most populated city in Spain
and the second one in Andalusia, behind Seville. It has an international airport with connections to the most
important European cities, as well as a direct high speed railway line to Madrid.
The climate is mild, with a mean annual temperature around 19°C (66°F). Typical maximum and minimum temperatures in
May are 24 and 17°C.
Málaga gathers interesting monuments (a Roman Theatre, an Arabic Alcazaba, a Baroque Cathedral, and a Museum devoted
to its most famous painter, Picasso). Moreover, Málaga is surrounded by many
touristy villages, some of them located
on the coast and famous for their attractive beaches, like Marbella, and some others located in the mountains,
like Ronda. All of them share the influence of the Arabic culture, an exquisite cuisine, and beautiful landscapes and
sights.

In addition to its qualities as a tourist destination, Málaga is one of the most important Spanish cities regarding
Research and Innovation. Indeed, both a very active University and the largest industrial area dedicated to Electronics
and Technology in Andalusia are found in Málaga.
Málaga is also a candidate to the "European City of the Culture 2016”.
We know you will enjoy the next WOCSDICE 2009 in Málaga, Andalusia, Spain.
